Today marks 20 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first published.
Harry Potter films have made billions at the box-office and 20 years ago today, June 26, 1997, J.K Rowling published her first adventure about the boy wizard and the world was changed forever.
20 years ago today a world that I had lived in alone was suddenly open to others. It’s been wonderful. Thank you.#HarryPotter20

The Harry Potter books have become a cultural phenomenon because they’ve sold more than 500 million copies worldwide.
They’re also the best-selling book series in history and have been translated into 73 languages.
To celebrate this Facebook have decided to inject a bit of magic into our life because if you type any of these magical terms Harry Potter, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin into a Facebook comment section, or click on their names, you’re treated to a very cool magic display.
When you do this the highlight words will be highlighted with a different colour -each of the house names showing up with the colour of their house. You can also click on the word again to replay it, while the feature also works within comments.
This is the best thing Facebook has ever done 😍✨⚡️You click on Harry Potter and a wand, sparks and lightning all appear! It’s magic! pic.twitter.com/67BpzfWhIY
