Teenager rejected for waitress job ‘with laughing crying emoji’

Megan Dixon, 18, went for an interview at Miller and Carter in Leicester, a posh steak restaurant.

The teenager had her interview and was told she would receive feedback by email but seconds after leaving she received a text from the assistant manager Shantell Wesson which read “It’s a no”.

Megan replied asking “Okay. How come?” she was told “Just not engaging. And answers were ‘like’ basic” followed by a laughing crying face emjoi at the end of the message.

A Miller and Carter spokeswoman said: “We can’t apologise enough to Megan. It was never our intention to be disrespectful or upset her in any way.”The texts were sent in error and were intended for our manager, not the candidate.”

They added the incident was being taken “extremely seriously” and would be investigated.

What do you think? Was it a mistake by the manager? Or just a rude interviewer?
