Lady Gaga goes down in Super Bowl History with Spectacular Show
Last night was the biggest sporting night in America with the annual Super Bowl where The New England Patriots produced one of the greatest comebacks in Super Bowl history to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime and claim a fifth title.
The audience for the US biggest sporting event was estimated at 110 million.
Lady Gaga put in a stunning performance when she dived in from the roof of Houston’s NRG stadium 79 metres above the crowd, as a swarm of drones hovered behind her; bathing the sky with the colours of the stars and stripes during Woody Guthrie’s left-wing anthem.
“One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” said Gaga as she did a swan-dive from the roof landing on a torch-like structure.
Gaga then launched in to her hit singles including Poker Face, Just Dance and Telephone, backed by an slew of dancers.
Fans flooded the pitch with torches that flashed in time to the music. Gaga vocals were strong but her dancing left here bit short of breath for her ballad “A Million Reasons”.
Gaga had two custom changes throughout the 12 minute performance and ended with her hit “Bad Romance” backed by a 40 strong dance troop behind her.
Gaga finished atop a staircase before shouting “Super Bowl 51,” then dropping her mic before jumping in to the crowd with a glittering Sliver football.
